Manny Machado made it clear he was going to opt out of his contract after the season with the San Diego Padres if he get an extension.

The Padres listened and gave the All-Star third baseman an 11-year, $350 million deal, replacing his original 10-year, $300 million contract.

Machado, who had six years and $180 million remaining on his original deal, will earn a total of $470 million over 15 years from the Padres with his new deal.

Machado will earn a 'modest' $17 million in 2023, but will earn $35 million annually from 2027-33.
