Highrise fire sends 2 to hospital

A man and a woman in their 60s have been transported to hospital after a two-alarm highrise fire in northwest Toronto late Friday morning.

Toronto Fire Services received a call just before 11:45 a.m. about a blaze at 121 Humber Blvd, near Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

The man was taken to hospital with serious burns, but was conscious and breathing, Toronto EMS said.

The woman was also transported with minor burns and smoke inhalation.

It's unclear whether the two people lived in the same residence.

A total of 12 trucks and 45 firefighters responded to the blaze. The cause is still under investigation.
