Highway 103 reopened in Birchtown after fatal collision

A section of Nova Scotia's Highway 103 has reopened after a fatal head-on collision Sunday afternoon.

RCMP Sgt. Al LeBlanc said police got the call around 3:20 p.m. after a two vehicle collision in Birchtown, near Shelburne.

According to LeBlanc, a car travelling west collided head-on with a car travelling east between exits 27 and 28. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victims are a 72-year-old man from Shelburne and an 80-year-old woman from Barrington.

A collision reconstructionist was called to the scene.
