Hilary Duff Might've Revealed the Reason Why the 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Shut Down

From Cosmopolitan

  • The Love, Simon TV show was pulled from Disney+ and moved to Hulu reportedly because it isn't "family friendly."

  • Hilary Duff posted about the news and seems to have hinted that something similar happened to the Lizzie McGuire reboot.

It's been 48 days since the only thing giving me hope in these dark times, the Lizzie McGuire reboot, went on hiatus for mysterious reasons. At the time, a Disney spokesperson said, "After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.” The company also implied that the show wouldn't live up to fans' "high expectations." Which, yes, thank you for trying to deliver. But also, we're all out here watching Love Is Blind, so, like, what standards?

Anyway, the reboot is currently on hold and Hilary Duff may have just hinted at why Disney is trying to steal my happiness.

This week, news broke that the Love, Simon show, which was set to premiere on the Disney+ platform, would now be moved over to Disney-owned streaming service Hulu. Apparently, the premise of a high school student adjusting to a new town and struggling with his sexuality wasn't "family friendly." (Hulu's High Fidelity was also initially intended to stream on Disney+.)

When Hilary heard this news, she took to Instagram to post a screenshot of an article about Love, Simon and captioned it, "Sounds familiar...." Of course, she could've meant something else and could be referring to the industry in general, but the whole thing seems very sus.

Unfortunately, Disney hasn't updated fans about their plan or said if we can expect to see Lizzie McGuire to drop on Hulu, so we're all in the dark here. While we await these updates, I'll be over here crying à la Lizzie when she and Ronnie broke up. I need my space!
