Hilton Head man wins $200,000 from a $5 lottery ticket. See where the winning ticket was sold
A Hilton Head Island man won $200,000 after buying a $5 lottery ticket on a whim, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said.
The local prizewinner, whose name wasn’t released, bought his winning ticket at the Circle K at 825 William Hilton Parkway on Hilton Head Island.
The man said he took the ticket home to scratch it and was stunned by what he saw, lottery officials said.
“I had to look at it a couple of times,” he said after discovering his findings.
After deciding what to do with his winnings, the man said he plans to save some of the money and travel some.
In addition to the man’s winnings, Circle K Stores No. 8100 on Hilton Head Island also received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
There’s one more top prize available in the Plu$ The Ca$h! Game, and the odds of winning it are 1 in 750,000, reported SC Education Lottery officials.
