Home buyers and sellers in Saskatoon embrace new 3D tours

Thanks to new technology, potential buyers are able to get a unique view of properties they might be interested in, right from the comfort of their own home.

Agents in Saskatoon are starting to use 3D photography in their listings.

Norm Fisher with Royal LePage has been using 3D for about a month.

"It's very cool," said Fisher.

"It's definitely the future I think for displaying interior spaces."

A special camera calculates dimension and space between objects as it rotates. The scans are then uploaded to a computer and analysed to create 3D models which are complete, and dimensionally accurate.

With the click of a button potential buyers are able get a feel of space for their prospective new home on their computer or mobile device before committing to viewing it in person.

It's more than a virtual tour. The 3D experience looks and feels like a video game, allowing the viewer to navigate from room to room, and to gaze up and down from floor to ceiling.

One seller can't say enough about the new technology.

Tatum Luey put 3D to work when her house went up on the market

"The 3D really drew you into the house," she said.

"It really gave, I thought, an accurate sense of space of our house."

Luey believes the technology made her home stand out from the competition. Her home sold in one day.
