Home intruder kicked, punched by Edmonton woman
An Edmonton woman was able to fight off a man who broke into her home early Tuesday morning.
A man tells CBC News he learned of the attack when his neighbour frantically pounded on his front door just after 1 a.m.
“She told us that she had just been attacked in her own home and my wife at that point called the police,” he said. CBC is not naming the man to protect the woman’s identity.
The woman said she woke up to find a man in her room. The balaclava-clad intruder was standing over top of her with a wrench in his hand, threatening to rape her.
That’s when the woman fought back.
“She first kicked the guy and when she got out of bed, punched the heck out of him and chased him out of the house,” the neighbour said.
She gathered up her young son and mother and ran to his house for help.
The Edmonton Police Sex Crimes Unit is investigating. So far no arrests have been made.
