Man charged with 2nd-degree murder after dispute in Mississauga home

Homicide detectives in Peel Region are investigating after an altercation between two men has left one them dead in Mississauga on Saturday.

One man has been arrested and is facing charges of second-degree murder, Peel police said in a press release.

The victim is 34 years old. He has not been identified. The accused is 21 years old. Both the victim and the accused lived in the same residence.

At around 10:45 a.m., police and paramedics received a call for help at a home on Glen Erin Drive in Mississauga.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save him, he died from his injuries at the scene, Const. Himmet Gill said Saturday.

"This is an isolated incident," Gill told reporters at a media briefing.

"Both parties are known to each other, and the incident had taken place inside the residence."

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.

Police are holding the scene as officers investigate.

The accused will appear in court on Sept. 26.
