Homicide on Hosmer: Man shot and killed in Tacoma early Saturday morning, police say

Detectives with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office discovered the body of Robert Erwin, a transient man who had been reported missing from the Yelm area, buried in a shallow grave near the Nisqually River on June 4.

A man was shot and killed in Tacoma early Saturday morning.

Tacoma police officers were dispatched just before 2 a.m. to the 9200 block of South Hosmer Street for reports of a shooting. A man had suffered a single gunshot wound and police attempted life-saving measures until fire personnel arrived, according to a Tacoma Police Department news release.

The man succumbed to his injuries. The shooting is being investigated as a homicide, the release said. No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
