One of the best things about visiting a market that features work from various artisans is you will always see something new.
At the Tottenham Artisan and Farmer's Market there are different artisans every week with a variety of unique crafts.
Daniela Torelli, of Think Pink Welding, is a welder by trade, and an artist by choice.
She uses her welding skills to create an assortment of different pieces that she makes using horseshoes.
From wine racks, coat racks and wall ornaments to garden pieces, each one is different and expertly crafted.
“I'm a welder by trade and I have a passion for horses,” Daniela explained of how she combines her two interests. “I combine the two together and make horseshoe home décor. I've been a welder for six years and I'm also a welding instructor. I got the idea a couple of years ago, and for Christmas for my friends - they're all horse people - I said 'give me your horseshoes, and I'm going to make a present for you. They had them in their homes and their family members saw them, and next thing I knew people were asking me to make them things.”
Daniela takes real horseshoes and applies a coating to them for a nice finish.
“They're all made from brand new real horseshoes,” Daniela explained. “They are clean polished and welded by myself. I finish them with a clear powder coat which gives them a super nice, smooth glossy finish. I get the horseshoes from a farrier friend of mine. They're real steel horseshoes and they've got the weight to them. I've got wine bottle holders, wreaths, coat hooks, napkin holder, and garden stakes.”
The result are decorative pieces that would be a nice addition to any home or garden.
The Tottenham Artisan and Farmer's Market is open every Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., through the summer.
