This Hotel Will Let You Foster a Dog During Your Stay, and You Can Even Adopt It After
Listen up, dog lovers: A hotel that doubles as a foster home for dogs exists, and it’ll make you feel like you’re right at home during your stay. And better yet, you can even adopt a foster dog straight through the hotel if you happen to fall in love with and never want to let go.
As Insider reports, the Home2 Suites by Hilton in D'Iberville, Mississippi, takes in one foster dog at a time through a program called Fostering Hope. Guests can do everything from take the dog for walks to hang out with them in their hotel rooms overnight. If a guest wants to adopt the dog, the hotel will take in another. No need to worry about any competition from other dog lovin’ folks, either, because you can always meet the next pup!
"[The guests] were missing something, I could see it," Teresa Johnston, director of sales at the hotel, told Insider. "They were missing home, and they were missing animals. I thought, 'why can't we put the two together?'"
The program has helped 60 dogs find homes since its inception in 2018. Even four staffers have taken a foster pup home. Johnston hopes to expand the program to other Home2 Suites locations to not only help guests feel more comfortable in the hotel, but improve the lives of dogs in need and the people willing to help them.
It's probably safe to say that if this concept was applied to all hotels, there would be many people out there with a lot of dogs. How could you resist??
