House of Mei Mei employee attacked with 'sensory irritant,' police say

Someone attacked an employee with a "sensory irritant" at the House of Mei Mei restaurant Wednesday night, police say.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery at the 264 Bedford Highway around 9:47 p.m.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched for the suspect but couldn't find anyone, police say.

They are still investigating.

It's not clear based on the information provided by police if anything was stolen from the restaurant.

Police consider pepper spray and bear spray to be sensory irritants but wouldn't say what type of substance was used.

The suspect is described as five feet eight inches tall and possibly in his mid-20s. Police say the man was dressed in black and had his face covered.
