Fire consumed a rural Manitoba house and mobile home on Thursday, leaving only a garage standing on the property southeast of Winnipeg.
One person was asleep inside the mobile home at the time but managed to escape on their own, said Allan Rau, fire chief in the Rural Municipality of Taché.
No one was inside the main house, which is just off Highway 207 between the town of Lorette and Deacons Corner.
The fire started around 2:30 p.m. and crews fought it for hours, finally extinguishing the flames around 8:30 p.m. But they were on scene until 1 a.m. checking for hot spots, Rau said.
The cause is under investigation.
No one was injured.
