'House of the Dragon' writer doesn't get why people love Daemon
House of the Dragon writer Sarah Hess has opened up about fan reactions to Daemon Targaryen.
Played by Matt Smith, the roguish prince has made quite the impression murdering his wife and then marrying his niece.

The fact that Daemon has become a fan favourite "baffles" Hess, she told The Hollywood Reporter.
She said: "He’s become Internet Boyfriend in a way that baffles me. Not that Matt isn’t incredibly charismatic and wonderful, and he’s incredible in the role. But Daemon himself is… I don’t want him to be my boyfriend!"
Hess added: "I’m a little baffled how they’re all, 'Oh, daddy!' And I’m just like, 'Really?' How – in what way – was he a good partner, father or brother — to anybody? You got me. He ain’t Paul Rudd."

She then explained why she thinks people love the character so much: "Matt is such a risk-taker in his performances and he’s got that little smile and, you know … you can’t help it! He is charismatic. People love a baddie. But I don’t think he’s particularly a good father or a good brother."
The Game of Thrones spin-off has been a huge hit since it premiered in September being HBO's most watched premiere of all time.
The series has also garnered acclaim for its production design, writing and performances, particularly those of Paddy Considine, Milly Alcock and Smith.
There is only one episode left of the first season, the trailer for which teases Daemon attempting to steal a dragon as the civil war between the Targaryen families breaks out.
House of the Dragon airs on Mondays on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
