New housing development approved by Macon officials. How many homes will be built?

A new housing development with a dozen homes has been approved by the Macon-Bibb Planning & Zoning Commission.

The commission approved the proposal Monday. The development off Wesleyan Drive, which will have lot sizes of at least one-third of an acre, will include 12 single-family houses. The design of the cluster will be consistent with the existing housing in the area, according to information shared in a hearing about the plan.

The development also has an extra lot reserved for open space, which will include a fenced area with picnic tables and a pavilion.

One new road would be built coming off Wesleyan Drive at the intersection of the cluster. A chain-link fence has been suggested to maintain an undisturbed buffer along Wesleyan Drive. Zoning staff stated the fence will separate the private recreational space from the public road.
