Hugh Bonneville stuns fans with lockdown transformation

Hugh Bonneville fans have said they hardly recognised the star following his dramatic lockdown weight loss.

The Downton Abbey actor showed off his new slimline look when he appeared on The One Show this week.

Bonneville, 56, was also sporting a new hairstyle, which added to the transformation.

People tuning in could not believe how different the actor looked, with some saying that he had “glowed up”.

“How skinny does Hugh look!?” one surprised fan posted on Twitter.

“Had to do a ‘double take’. Didn't recognise Hugh Bonneville at first. Looking amazing,” said another.

“Almost didn't recognise Hugh Bonneville on #TheOneShow. Lost so much weight,” one viewer tweeted.

“He looks totally different!” exclaimed another.

“Wow, I didn't recognise Hugh Bonneville on #TheOneShow to start with! What a transformation!” gushed another fan.

There was also the suggestion that Bonneville now looks a lot like some other famous faces.

“Hugh Bonneville or Bear Grylls?” asked one person.

“Is Hugh Bonneville playing Jude Law in his next role?” quipped another.

The actor is best known for playing Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham in hit drama series Downton Abbey.

But his other big roles include Mr Henry Brown in the Paddington movies and Ian Fletcher in the series W1A.
