Human remains found in Powell River, B.C.

Pointe-Canot man killed in crash

Human remains have been found in Powell River on B.C.'s Sunshine Coast.

RCMP made the finding on Friday October 2, at 7 p.m. PT and say the remains have not been identified nor has a cause of death been established.

Mounties notified the Coroners Service of British Columbia, which is also investigating.

RCMP have enlisted the help of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit to figure out whose remains have been the discovered and the circumstances of the death.

The unit is deployed when a deceased person's identity and cause of death are not known.

Officers say there are no indications the discovery represents a risk to public safety.

On September 30th, police found two bodies in a summer home north of Powell River.

Investigators have not released the identities of those victims, the cause of death or any other details, but they did say Vancouver Island's major crime unit is also investigating.
