A Brantford resident walking in a field in the city’s north end stumbled upon a human skull on Saturday.

City police said the grisly discovery was made “in a remote area of a field located in an industrial area.”

The Brantford Police major crimes unit and the coroner’s office are investigating.

“A postmortem coroner’s examination is to be scheduled,” police said in a media release.

“Until this examination has been completed, Brantford Police Service is unable to provide further information regarding the identification of the remains. As the investigation is in the very early stages, additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

Police ask anyone who may have information about the remains to call Det. Jason Sinning at 519-756-7050 ext. 2265 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
