HURON COUNTY – The County of Huron has sent out an invitation to its residents to engage with them during the 2022 budget process, directing ratepayers to the county’s website to learn more about it.

“County council and staff remain committed to providing quality services to residents and making Huron a safe, welcoming and affordable community,” Warden Glen McNeil said. “I wholeheartedly encourage residents to visit Huron County Connects and learn more about Huron’s budget process.”

A media release was sent on Jan. 6, the day after a draft budget was presented to council.

“As part of the annual budgeting process, all county departments draft and review their annual budget estimates under the strategic priorities set by county council,” the release said. “At council’s initial review of the budget, the draft budget is also made available to the community, who are encouraged to stay informed. After the public has had a chance to engage, council again reviews and debates, before final approval of the budget is made.”

The next budget meeting will be held virtually on Feb. 9. The meetings are available to view live but are not saved for future viewing, as per county policy, the release said.
