The County of Grande Prairie will be hosting an open house event for Hythe residents on Sept. 7 at the Hythe Legion Hall.
The county hopes to connect with Hythe residents after the village became a part of the county on July 1.
The dissolution of the former village has seen some changes in recent months as changes are made.
“This is a great opportunity to meet face-to-face with everyone,” says Reeve Leanne Beaupre.
“If you live, work or own a business in Hythe, please stop by and say hello to county council and to connect with staff members about the municipal services we provide and ask any questions you may have.”
She also noted that she encourages residents to bring concerns to the county at the open house.
Beaupre explained that because much of the dissolution is driven by Alberta Municipal Affairs, the county has had limited access to those living in Hythe.
“We certainly want to be able to be seen and demonstrate that we’re a welcoming community and that we’re extending that warm welcome to the residents of Hythe,” said Beaupre.
The county says that staff will provide information about county initiatives, programs, and services, including topics such as roads and infrastructure, snow removal, safety, policing, taxes, and support for residents.
A complimentary barbecue dinner will be served at 5:30 after a few words from the county reeve.
For more information, residents can call the county administration at 780-532-9722.
