Ice brings seals close to shore for photo op near Portugal Cove-St. Philip's

The same ice that trapped dolphins along the shoreline of Bell Island has brought other sea creatures into Conception Bay.

Seals have been spotted on the ice pans that jam the tickle between the island and Portugal Cove-St. Philip's.

People with binoculars and cameras are out for a look, but Thursday the seals were scarce and sluggish.

A better look can be had from the deck of the Flanders or the Beaumont Hamel but the ice was interferring with those ferry crossings on Thursday.

There are also reports of seals near Flatrock, north of St. John's. Check out this video posted by Kendra Thorne.
