Icy roads create morning traffic chaos across Metro Vancouver

Black ice and treacherous driving conditions created problems once again for Metro Vancouver commuters on Monday morning.

In Coquitlam, at least 20 cars were caught in a pile up on the Cape Horn interchange before 6 a.m. The on and off-ramps were shut down and RCMP asked drivers to avoid the area.

The highways have since re-opened.

There were also two crashes on the Sea-to-Sky Highway between Squamish and Horseshoe Bay affecting traffic: one at Murrin Lake and another at Ansell Place.

Environment Canada warned that up to nine centimetres of snow is expected for the South Coast Monday night and into Tuesday.
