Identity of teenager killed in multi-car accident released by St. Clair County coroner
A teenager was killed Friday afternoon in a multi-car accident in East St. Louis.
Thomas Lemons, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:05 p.m., according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
The accident happened on 59th Street about 3:45 p.m., said Chief Kendall Perry of the East St. Louis Police Department. The cause of the crash is under investigation, the chief said.
Streets were blocked off for two or three blocks, witnesses said. It was not immediately known whether others were injured.
The Illinois State Police Crime Scene unit processed the scene.
No other details were released.
