Illegal parkers target of police crackdown

The Toronto Police are planning to crack down Tuesday on drivers who illegally park their cars on downtown streets.

Toronto police are looking to crack down on drivers who leave their cars illegally parked and idling on downtown streets.

Police say "Operation: Keep It Moving Toronto" will focus on the corner of York and Adelaide Streets during the morning and afternoon rush hour on Tuesday.

Police say they will have zero tolerance for vehicles left sitting in no-stopping zones and will be tagging and towing cars and trucks blocking traffic.

Special attention will be paid to no−stopping zones, gridlock and other traffic offences that hinder the free flow of traffic, according to police.

Police also plan to repeat the crackdown periodically this year.
