'I'm going to Taco Bell' alleged drunk driver tells police

Windsor police has charged a 38-year-old man with driving drunk after allegedly speeding through a stop sign early Tuesday morning.

Officers say a pick-up truck was speeding westbound on Hanna Street East towards Howard Avenue when it fish-tailed through the stop sign as it made a hard left turn and struck the curb of Howard Avenue.

The truck continued west on Hanna Street East and turned south on Mercer Street, where he eventually stopped after being pursued by a police cruiser.

When officers asked the driver where he was going they said he responded with, "I'm going to Taco Bell."

Police said the driver was showing signs of being impaired, and was placed under arrest.

Once at police headquarters, officers said the man refused to provide a breath sample.

He's facing a charge of Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refuse to prove adequate breath sample for analysis.
