Indonesia Is Planning To Use CROCODILES As Prison Guards For Death Row Inmates

Anyone on death row in Indonesia who had planned on escaping in the near future will have to make their way past groups of man-eating crocodiles.

Plans have been put forward by the country’s drug chief to place the reptiles outside jails housing drug convicts to stop them from breaking out.

Budi Waseso wants inmates incarcerated on an island that would be surrounded by water containing the crocs.

He told Tempo: “We will place as many crocodiles as we can there.

“I will search for the most ferocious type of crocodile.”

Drug traffickers in Indonesia have been known to escape with the help of prison guards so Waseso is hoping that they won’t have as much sway with animals that want to eat them.

He added: “You can’t bribe crocodiles.

“You can’t convince them to let inmates escape.”

So far the plans are nothing more than that - although anti-drugs agency spokesman Slamet Pribadi insists they are in the “early stages” of putting them into place.
