Indoor sports vaccinations needed

SOUTH DUNDAS – If you play or volunteer with indoor sports and are eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine, you will need one.

Direction from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit on October 4 made COVID-19 vaccination, or approved exemption, mandatory for coaches, volunteers and players 12-and-older for indoor sports.

The direction did not supersede the requirement that players age 12-17 can practice and do not require proof of vaccination. This affects only games that players take part in.

Hockey Eastern Ontario went one step further announcing that by November 8, all players born 2009 or older, game officials, HEO officials, organization officials, team officials, and any volunteers must be double vaccinated (plus 14 days) by November 8. Failure to do so will mean that person is barred from taking part in HEO sanctioned events after that date.

Accommodations will be made for medical and religious exemptions.
