‘Inside Out 2’ Trailer Garners Record Viewership For Disney
Disney and Pixar should have nothing to worry about, as far as attendance for Inside Out 2, as the film’s trailer unveiled on Thursday has had the biggest launch of any in the former studio’s history, unseating 2019’s Frozen 2 with an astounding 157 million views in just 24 hours.
The film had a particularly strong showing on TikTok, where it brought in 78M views over the past day. It success there comes a little less than a month after Disney’s announcement of a first-of-its-kind content hub with TikTok in celebration of the studio’s 100th anniversary.

Grossing over $858M worldwide and winning the 2016 Oscar for Best Animated Feature, the original Inside Out introduced viewers to Riley, a young girl confronting emotions including Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Tony Hale), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Liza Lapira), and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) as she’s uprooted to San Francisco from the Midwest. Each emotion was memorably personified for the viewer, who could watch them clash inside Riley’s mind about how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.
Slated for release on June 14, 2024, the sequel brings viewers back into the mind of the now teenage Riley as her emotions try to keep up with her new feelings. Joining the band of conflicting emotions inside her head this time around is Anxiety, a frazzled, but lovable, orange emotion, voiced by Maya Hawke.
Said Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter, who exec produced the forthcoming film, after helming the original, “We are thrilled so many people have tuned in to check out the new trailer for Inside Out 2.” Docter stated that back when the first film debuted, he saw clearly that there was “so much much to explore” vis-a-vis Inside Out‘s world than “could possibly fit into one film.” He went on to praise sequel director Kelsey Mann and team, saying that the creatives have “done such a great job…expanding the world and introducing new emotions that we’re very anxious for audiences to discover.”
Said Docter in closing, “We couldn’t be more grateful to see the kind of response the trailer has received so far. Thank you to all who have checked it out — we can’t wait for everyone to see the film when it comes to theaters next summer.”
