Raleigh actor Ira David Wood III has a heart attack
Actor and director Ira David Wood III announced Friday he had suffered a mild heart attack but will recover in time to continue his performance in “Bull Durham.”
The veteran thespian, 76, best known for playing Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol” for Raleigh’s Theatre in the Park, announced on his Facebook page Friday that he felt the symptoms on Thursday morning and called 911.
He said his heart suffered no damage and he is feeling better, and his doctors said he could rejoin the “Bull Durham” musical cast in Durham after his discharge Sunday. Wood plays the announcer in Theatre Raleigh’s production.
