Isabelle Richer, Radio-Canada journalist, making progress, sister says

Radio-Canada journalist Isabelle Richer has emerged from a coma following a cycling accident over the weekend, according to a Facebook post from her sister on Monday.

Richer was hit by a truck in Rougemont, Que., on Saturday, causing head trauma and upper spine fractures.

On a Facebook page dedicated to Isabelle Richer's recovery, Geneviève Richer detailed the challenges ahead and said her sister would remain in intensive care for now.

She also thanked the public for their messages of encouragement.

On Sunday, Radio-Canada released a statement saying Richer's prognosis is good but there will be months of convalescence and rehabilitation before she can return to work.
