Islander Day activities cancelled for Monday

The City of Charlottetown is cancelling Monday’s Islander Day activities.

“It doesn’t make any sense for one arm of the city, the police services and the RCMP advising folks to stay off the road and another arm being the tourism department encouraging people… to go to various events that are sponsored by the city,” said Deputy Mayor Mike Duffy.

The events will not be rescheduled.

The winter storm hitting the Island has led to plows in all three counties being pulled off the road and the Confederation Bridge being closed to high-sided vehicles.

In New Annan, RCMP say a tractor-trailer on Route 2 left the road and is on its side. The tractor-trailer will be left there until the storm is over. There are no injuries.
