Ivanka Trump is yet again facing criticism for her stance on the Trump administration’s controversial policy of separating families at the U.S.-Mexican border.
The first daughter and president’s adviser sat down for an interview with Axios at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Toward the end of the conversation, journalist Mike Allen called the separation practice a “low point in the White House,” to which Trump agreed.
“Yes. That was a low point for me as well,” she responded. “I felt very strongly about that, and I am very vehemently against family separation and the separation of parents and children, so I would agree with that sentiment.”
Trump added, “These are incredibly difficult issues. And like the rest of the country, I experienced them in a very emotional way.”
The administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy resulted in thousands of children being separated from their parents at the border. And although President Trump signed an executive order ending the practice on June 20, CNN reported that as of Thursday, 559 children were still in U.S. government custody, away from their families.
Ivanka Trump was harshly criticized for her silence at the height of the issue several months ago, and her statement this week is one of the only times she’s addressed the immigration controversy, save for a tweet thanking her father for ending the practice that his administration put in place.
Criticism came again for the first daughter after her comments during the Axios interview. Many people didn’t appreciate Trump’s lack of awareness of the ongoing situation.

Notice that when things get disastrously bad or when an entire group of people are discriminated against or harmed by policy, they send out Ivanka Trump? They actually believe the soulless, feckless, unqualified, uncaring mannequin is effective. Her sincerity is as dry as sand.

Ivanka Trump's comment that family separations were a "low point" for her reveals she either lacks the vision to understand the consequences of her own actions (campaigning for Donald) or believes she can simply distance herself from them after the fact. Neither is leadership.

She always does that- says something that sound morally good and does nothing about it

Ivanka Trump Says that her father's Child Separate policy 'was a low point' for her & that the Press is not the 'enemy of the people.'
Then why the hell didn't you speak out before the damage was done?
Heroes speak out as things happen. Cowards speak out after they are done.

Don’t worry, kids in cages. Ivanka Trump says she disapproves of you being separated from your parents so everything is fine now.

It looks like Ivanka Trump was definitely feeling “low” when she posted this pic during the middle of family separations.
The empathy it takes to do this while other mothers have their own children ripped from their arms tells you everything you need to know about Ivanka. pic.twitter.com/tK3xZXO8o3
