'I've checked and I'm not dead:' Grand Tour's Richard Hammond recovering from motorbike fall
Car show bloke Richard Hammond is reassuring fans he's OK, after news emerged overnight he'd been in a serious motorbike accident while shooting The Grand Tour with colleagues Jeremy Clarkson and James May.
Hammond was with his colleagues in a remote area of Mozambique when he fell from the vehicle and hit his head, according to British reports.
"It's true, I did fall off a motorbike whilst filming recently," Hammond, 47, posted on social media site Drive Tribe on Monday.
"I banged my head, yes, along with pretty much everything else apart from my left thumb, which remains un-bruised. Can't tell you more yet about the how and why of it; that's all for later in the year on the show. As for injuries; well put it this way, I don't think I can get a book out of it."
The former Top Gear trio, currently filming the second season of their globe-trotting new Amazon Prime motoring show, had been filming in the southern African nation earlier this month.

It's not the first time Hammond has been involved in a major incident while filming.
In 2006, while shooting Top Gear, Hammond suffered a near-fatal crash in a jet-powered car as he tried to set a land speed record. It left him in a coma for two weeks and he later admitted he had suffered some brain damage from the stunt.
