J.Lo and Armie Hammer Will Star in a Wedding Comedy Together

From Harper's BAZAAR

Are Jennifer Lopez and Armie Hammer the next great rom-com couple? We just might find out with Shotgun Wedding, an upcoming action comedy led by the two stars. Lopez and Hammer play fiancés Darcy and Tom, who are wrangling their families for their dream destination wedding when the whole party is taken hostage, Deadline reported.

Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) is directing, and Mark Hammer (Two Night Stand) and Liz Meriwether (New Girl) are writing the screenplay. Ryan Reynolds is one of the executive producers; Lopez, via her Nuyorican Productions, is also producing.

Lopez, who last starred in Hustlers, and Hammer, who now stars in Netflix's adaptation of Rebecca, are "the perfect pairing for this action comedy," said Erin Westerman, president of production for Lionsgate, which is behind Shotgun Wedding. "They are both incredibly funny actors that can also deliver on the action, but what sets this movie apart is the way their infectious chemistry commands the screen. You can't take your eyes off them."

Further casting details and the release date are still unknown at this point. In the meantime, Lopez is prepping to release another rom-com, Marry Me, which she stars in opposite Owen Wilson. Set to premiere in time for Valentine's Day 2021, the movie is an unexpected love story between a music superstar and a lucky audience member.

After Rebecca, which arrived on Netflix this month, Hammer will next appear in Death on the Nile, a film based on Agatha Christie's book of the same name. Gal Gadot and Rose Leslie will costar.
