Jacques Cartier Bridge weekend roadwork prompts lane closures

Motorists who take the Jacques Cartier Bridge to get onto and off the island of Montreal should take note of road closures on the span this weekend.

The bridge will be off limits overnight Friday night into Saturday morning and Sunday night into Monday morning, and there will be lane closures in between those periods.

Here's how access will be affected:

Saturday

- All lanes closed from midnight to 4 a.m. (On Friday, the lanes will start closing at 11:30 p.m., but access will be maintained for emergency services.)

- One lane toward the South Shore, two lanes toward Montreal from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Two lanes in either direction from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday

- One lane toward the South Shore, two lanes toward Montreal from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Two lanes in either direction from 6 p.m. until midnight Monday.

Monday

- All lanes closed from midnight until 4 a.m.

The work is to allow crews to replace bearings on the bridge.
