Yahoo Sports’ Krysten Peek shares her evaluation of Memphis Tigers C Jalen Duren.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Jalen Duren only played one year at Memphis for Penny Hardaway after reclassifying up a grade in high school and joining the team early. Duren was a consensus top-three player coming out of high school. And despite his young age at just 18 years old, he held his own in college hoops this season. He has an NBA-ready body at 250 pounds and was one of the best passers out of a double team in college basketball.
Duren will be a project and is still a couple of years away from contributing to an NBA team. He'll need to work on his jump shot out of the pick and pop and his lateral quickness when having to occasionally step out and guard the perimeter.
Duren's NBA comp is a little bit of a cross between Chris Webber and Dwight Howard with his size and footwork around the rim. Duren is a projected mid to late lottery pick and has tremendous NBA upside with his frame and skill set.
