Jamie Fox to raise Island concerns with interim Tory Leader Rona Ambrose

P.E.I. Opposition slams progress on carbon tax, climate plan

P.E.I. Opposition Leader Jamie Fox and other PC leaders in the Maritimes are meeting in Halifax with Rona Ambrose, the federal interim Conservative leader.

The idea, Fox said, is to have everyone come together to talk about issues of greatest importance to the Maritimes.

There are no Conservative MPs from the region, and Fox said it's important that Ambrose hear first hand about issues facing the area.

"I thought it would be an opportunity for us to listen to regional concerns and how they affect the Maritime provinces," Fox said. "So it's something we started setting up about a month ago and it's actually going to take place this weekend."

For her part, Ambrose said she is looking forward to meeting with her provincial counterparts to discuss the economic opportunities and challenges currently facing Atlantic Canada, and to speak with local community and business leaders about how to hold the government to account.

Ambrose has a busy schedule while in the region. She will be on the Island Sunday evening for a PC Super Bowl party at Hunter's Ale House in Charlottetown.

She is slated to take part in pre-budget consultation meetings with the P.E.I. PC caucus and community representatives on Monday before moving on to Moncton to address the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday morning.
