Jamie Lee Curtis has given Halloween Kills the highest praise possible, calling it “a masterpiece.”

The legendary actress recently opened up to SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle and his co-host Julia Cunningham about the upcoming slasher, which is the sequel to 2018’s Halloween.

Curtis initially explained how Halloween Kills reflects a lot of what has been seen across the United States over the last couple of months with the Black Lives Matter movement, saying that “the power, of the rage of voices, big groups of people coming together enraged at the set of circumstances, [is] what the movie is [about].”

Curtis confirmed that Halloween Kills is “about a mob,” as it explores how trauma and tragedy “infects an entire community.” Which is all the more striking, as screenwriters Scott Teems, Danny McBride, and David Gordon Green, who is also directing it, wrote it long before the Black Lives Matter movement occurred.

“[But] when you see it, it’s a seething group of people moving through the story as a big angry group,” she continued. “It’s really, really, really intense. It’s a masterpiece.”

If COVID-19 hadn’t struck then audiences would have already seen Halloween Kills, as it was originally due out on October 16, 2020. However, because of the pandemic, the film was pushed back a whole year to October 15, 2021, while Halloween Ends, which was shot at the same time, will arrive on October 14, 2022.

Both films will revolve around Curtis’ Laure Strode once again trying to evade the psychotic serial killer Michael Myers. She’ll be joined in these efforts by Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Anthony Michael Hall, Kyle Richards, and Robert Longstreet.
