Jennifer Lopez, Chris Evans and more celebrities stand up for Keaton Jones
Hearts broke over the weekend for Keaton Jones, a young boy who tearfully shared his message against bullying in a video that quickly went viral. Opening up about the hurtful treatment he received from classmates at school, he said to the camera, “It’s not okay!” Now, he has a pack of famous friends rallying behind him.
In the video, which has been viewed more than 18 million times, a crying Keaton asks his mom why people feel the need to bully others. “People that are different don’t need to be criticized about it. It’s not their fault. But if you are made fun of, just don’t let it bother you,” he said in the video, adding these inspiring words of encouragement, “Stay strong, I guess. It’s hard, but it will probably get better one day.”
The Tennessee native’s emotional speech touched the hearts of celebrities like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Millie Bobby Brown, who took to social media to voice their support and stand in solidarity with Keaton’s message. His bravery even scored him an invite to the Avengers premiere, courtesy of Chris Evans.
Mom-of-two Jennifer Lopez was inspired to pen her own anti-bullying message, writing on Instagram: "There is no room in this world for bullying or hate of any kind. And we will overcome it with love... As a parent it is my responsibility to make sure my kids know it is ok to go to an adult when someone is treating them in a way that hurts them or makes them uncomfortable or unhappy in anyway. Also to educate and teach them to treat people with kindness, love and respect no matter how different they may be from you!!”
Here are a few more celebrities that Keaton has in his corner.
Stay strong, Keaton. Don’t let them make you turn cold. I promise it gets better. While those punks at your school are deciding what kind of people they want to be in this world, how would you and your mom like to come to the Avengers premiere in LA next year? https://t.co/s1QwCQ3toi
