Jennifer Love Hewitt visited Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she recalled working on a commercial with Michael Jackson when she was 10 years old. It was just a one-day shot for the shoe brand LA Gear, but it was a day Hewitt will never forget.
Hewitt’s youth helped her be more relaxed at the time, she said. “If I’d been in my 20’s I probably would have pooed my pants a little bit — ‘Oh my God, I’m about to work with Michael Jackson!’ At 10, it was like, ‘This is so cool, he’s going to be really fun.’ It wasn’t a big deal.”
Hewitt had to leave the shoot early because she was working at a charity function that evening, and Jackson was impressed with her commitment. “He was like, ‘You don’t know how important it is that you’re doing something that’s special and important for other people. … Never lose that, always be that person.’”
The actress got a surprise when Jackson made a sizable donation to the charity in her name. The two became friends as a result of that day, and Hewitt still thinks of the megastar very fondly.
