Jerry Harris From "Cheer" Is Mat Talking Us Through the Coronavirus Pandemic

If you've been feeling down or anxious because of the coronavirus pandemic and the current state of the world, Jerry Harris from Netflix's Cheer has shared an encouraging video of him doing his signature mat talk to lift your spirits.

The Navarro athlete posted the virtual mat talk to his Instagram on Wednesday night (March 25).

"I know this is a hard time for everyone right now, but I don't want you guys to think of this as a negative or bad time. Think of this as a time to reboot, recharge our mental battery, and reconnect with family," he said. "This is not going to last forever and it'll be over before we know it and we'll be able to resume our normal lives how they were. I want you all to stay focused on what's good and happy and always keep an attitude of gratitude. And always be strong. Because at the end of the day, we got this."

If you watched Netflix's hit docu-series, you'll know that Jerry is beloved by his teammates for his bright personality and mat talk that can't help but make you feel gassed up. As coach Monica told Teen Vogue earlier this year, Jerry “exudes joy” and “literally lifts up the whole team” with his positive enthusiasm.

Plenty of his Instagram followers loved this bit of virtual encouragement. "The calmest I’ve felt thus far," wrote one fan. Another replied, "Jerry says we got this! Sooo I guess we got this!" One even commented, "Please mat talk America through this."

If you're looking for ways to cope with coronavirus anxiety, you should know the facts, figure out what you can control, and practice relaxation techniques. Hopefully, that'll help to get through social distancing a bit easier.

And if you still need a bit more of Jerry, may I recommend this TikTok?
