Jian Ghomeshi trial: Lucy DeCoutere asked about publicity she's gotten from case

Jian Ghomeshi and Lucy DeCoutere cuddled in park after alleged assault, trial hears

Actress Lucy DeCoutere, the second complainant to testify at Jian Ghomeshi's sexual assault and choking trial, was cross-examined for two hours by the defence about the publicity she's gained from her involvement in the case.

Lawyer Marie Henein also repeatedly asked the Trailer Park Boys actress Thursday afternoon about her decision to spend more time with the former CBC Radio host during the weekend he allegedly sexually assaulted and choked her.

Ghomeshi, 48, has pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual assault and one of choking to overcome resistance, with the charges involving three women. He is being tried by judge alone in the Ontario Court of Justice.

The cross-examination resumes tomorrow, ending suddenly today after Henein asked DeCoutere "to tell his Honour the truth" about conversations that have been going on.

DeCoutere responded that she didn't know what the lawyer was referring to.

Following a pause, Henein suggested breaking for the day and the judge agreed.
