After JLo filed for divorce, her ex ARod shared this cryptic post. What does it mean?
Sorry to all you diehard romantics from the early aughts: The rumors were true. Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce Tuesday after months of speculation about trouble brewing in her marriage to Ben Affleck.
Tuesday had historical significance for the high profile exes. It was two years ago to the day they wed at the 52-year-old Oscar winner’s Georgia estate (their second trip down the aisle after Vegas).
While it’s sad to see any couple break up, Bennifer 2.0 fans were likely rooting for the actors, who were first engaged back in 2002 after meeting on the set of “Gigli.” Much like that box office bomb, Lopez and Affleck’s relationship fizzled before they could make it down the altar. So to see PDA prone lovebirds reunite after so much time gave many Hollywood watchers serious nostalgia vibes.
Not everyone was over the moon, though. Take Lopez’s former fiancé Alex Rodriguez, who was engaged to the 55-year-old superstar from 2019 to 2021. They weren’t only hot and heavy, but also blended their families while living together at his Coral Gables mansion.
After Lopez was spotted back with Affleck mere weeks after their split, including in Miami Beach, insiders said Rodriguez, 49, was “shocked” and in a “world of pain.” Granted, the reason the NYC natives split reportedly had to do with his alleged DMs to “Southern Charm” star Madison LeCroy.
These days, the retired baller is dating fitness influencer Jaclyn Cordeiro, and, judging by recent Eurotrip pics, they seem happy and healthy.
But some folks keeping an eagle eye on ARod to see his reaction when news broke about Lopez’s unfortunate matrimonial situation noticed a cryptic note hours later on his Instagram stories.
“You either go one way or the other,” read the post that disappears after 24 hours. “You might as well be the one deciding the direction.”
The onetime Yankee attributed the introspective quote to himself.
Was ARod reaching out to Lopez in his own way, giving her decision to pull the plug on Affleck his stamp of approval? Or perhaps he is referring to how he has moved on from all that was JRod.
What we do know is that back in June when rumblings of the Bennifer implosion first began, an insider told InTouch Weekly that ARod was grabbing the popcorn because karma had done her job.
“He felt like [JLo] tossed him out with the trash when she got a better offer from Ben and it did a huge number on him,” the source said. “He went from planning a wedding to watching her marry someone else in what felt like the blink of an eye.
“It was the worst year of his life.”
