Watch: John Barrowman thanks fans for their support
In the wake of Noel Clarke being accused of sexual misconduct – which he denies – a video emerged of Barrowman at a convention alongside his Doctor Who co-star who joked about him exposing his penis “every five seconds” and “hitting it on everything”.
The 54-year-old described his actions as "tomfoolery" that was “only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage”.
It has been reported by The Sun that his Dancing On Ice job could be at risk because of the controversy.
However, a spokesperson for ITV recently stated that any discussions on the 2022 series are "very premature".
Barrowman has also now shared a video to Instagram thanking fans for their "countless messages" of support.
He said: “Hi everybody, it’s John here and I just want to say thank you very much to all of my fan family and everybody who has reached out with the countless messages of support over the last few weeks.
“It has meant such a great deal to me and has really touched me to know that people are supporting me and standing by me and sending their love and all of their appreciation and kind words.”
The actor added: “Hopefully we will all be back together some time soon and I look forward to it. Much love and thank you.”
Watch: Noel Clarke suspended by Bafta over harassment claims
Last month Barrowman, who played Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood, was removed from an interactive Doctor Who experience due to the flashing controversy.
Sources previously told The Guardian they did not believe Barrowman’s behaviour to be sexually predatory and described it as misjudged “larking about” and “joking”.
