Johnson County shop closes this weekend with 60% discounts. Here’s what’s replacing it
This weekend is the last for The Pretty Posy boutique in downtown Overland Park.
The store is selling all its high-end items — dresses, blazers, boots — at up to 60% off. But that’s because owner Erin Olivia wants to open a different concept in the same space.
Olivia says while she has built a reliable customer base over the two years she’s been open, she’s lost the passion for clothes she once had.
It’s a lot of work: steaming, hanging, etc. Olivia began to feel like it was time to pursue something else.
Not wanting to forfeit her “beautiful space” at 7942 Santa Fe Drive, she decided to pivot to books and gifts.
“Who doesn’t want a store in downtown Overland Park?” Olivia said.
The shop, which will still be called The Pretty Posy, will sell mostly books, with a few other specialty items geared toward women.
And most of her books, too, will be geared toward female readers, mostly because it’s what Olivia said she knows and likes.
Why books? Olivia said she’s an avid reader. Olivia, a former elementary school teacher, wants to offer plenty of books for kids and even host reading-centered events at the shop.
Olivia looks forward to reopening the shop in December.
“I love connecting with people,” she said.
The Pretty Posy boutique will be open (for the last time) Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Clothing can also be purchased online at prettyposyboutique.com.
