Folie à Deux has also landed a disappointing box office opening, earning just $20 million on Friday (October 4), including $7 million in previews.
Heading into the weekend, the film was expected to make $50 million to $60 million. This falls significantly behind 2019's Joker, which earned $96.2 million in its debut.
The critical response to Folie à Deux has been largely negative, earning it a dismal score of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes from 257 reviews at the time of writing.

"It's not really where this movie is headed for me," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films."
Joker: Folie à Deux is out now in cinemas. Joker is available to buy on Blu-ray or streaming now.
