Jon Hamm has rescued a dog who was twice returned to a shelter due to his “puppy energy”.

I Stand With My Pack, a non-profit organisation that provides assistance to animals, shared a photo of the actor with his new pet Splash in a recent Instagram post.

The pup was “returned twice at the shelter because of his puppy energy,” the organisation wrote.

Splash was then rescued by I Stand With My Pack, which “found him the best home”.

“He lives a fairy tale life now,” the publication adds. “Happy adoption Splash.”

An Instagram user asked in the comments section: “Is that Jon Hamm?” – to which the organisation responded affirmatively.

Hamm previously had a rescue dog named Cora. In 2015, he told People that adopting her had “changed [his] life in such a positive way”.

Two years later, he gave an interview to The New York Times the day after Cora died at the age of 17.

“Cora was the best,” he said, adding: "I could go on for three hours about Cora, and I won’t, because I’ll just be a mess.”
