Houston Astros second baseman José Altuve underwent surgery on his right knee, according to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart. However, Houston did not confirm the surgery.

Altuve, a six-time All-Star, suffered the injury while sliding into second base against the Colorado Rockies in July. Despite the injury, Altuve still amassed fantastic numbers — finishing the regular season with a .316 average, 13 homers and 61 RBIs in 137 games. Altuve batted .286 against the Cleveland Indians in the American League Division Series, and he finished with a .250 average against the Boston Red Sox in the American League Championship Series.

Altuve was the Astros’ designated hitter in Games 3-5 against Boston. On Thursday, Astros manager AJ Hinch said Altuve would have been on the disabled list if they were in the regular season.

A source told McTaggart that Altuve is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for spring training.

Altuve’s durability has never been an issue in his career. He’s played in at least 150 games each season since 2013.
