Justin Bieber Confirms Hailey Baldwin Made Him Shave His Mustache

Over the past couple years, Justin Bieber has had a passionate, on-off relationship with his mustache—a polarizing look some fans are cool with, and others abhor. His wife Hailey Baldwin is one of those people who hate it, and she is the reason he has parted ways with it multiple times. Bieber confirmed yesterday that he shaved his mustache earlier this year because the health of his marriage more or less depended on it.

"Hailey was gonna freaking kill me," Bieber said during his Instagram Live interview with Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player Auston Matthews, via Daily Mail. "I wasn't gonna be able to sleep in the bed. So, I had to shave it."

Baldwin first made Bieber shave his facial hair just a month after they started dating again in July 2018. He told fans she made him give up the mustache then when he was out in New York City. One fan tweeted that Bieber said, “Yeah, Hailey made me shave it off, well, not made me, but you know, haha.”

By August, Bieber's mustache was back, at least temporarily. In October, Baldwin made her hatred of Bieber's facial hair Instagram official. Bieber's road manager Ryan Good commented Bieber should "grow the moustache back for the wedding" on Instagram. Baldwin wrote back, "Don't u dare give him that idea you lunatic."

Bieber was clean shaven for the two's eventual second wedding in South Carolina last September. But in February 2020, the mustache was back for a hot second.

Bieber would rank Baldwin's friends on James Corden's Late Late Show to avoid eating bull penis (a big mistake), but he wouldn't let Corden shave his mustache to avoid eating a spoonful of ant yogurt with a scorpion. Those were his priorities.

He ultimately shaved his mustache on February 16: "I shaved. MUSTASHIO went on holiday, but he will be back in due time," Bieber captioned his Instagram. Baldwin enthusiastically commented on the post, writing, "Yeeeeee 😍." It has not been back since.
