Justin Trudeau defends MP accused of getting help from Chinese consulate
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau defended one of his MPs after a report alleged China helped Han Dong win the party nomination in the 2019 federal election. A report from Global News alleged the Canadian Security Intelligence Service urged senior Liberal party staff to rescind Dong’s nomination, but Trudeau approved his candidacy. Trudeau said on Monday intelligence agencies do not have the authority to dictate to political parties who can run for office.
